Laura Aiken & Cillian Woods

Virginia Park Lodge - 8th of April 2016

Do you remember that incredibly hot early April Saturday, when the whole of Ireland had to question what country we were in? It lasted one day. Well that was the 8th of April; the day Laura and Cillian got married in the beautiful Virginia Park Lodge. I still ask myself if that day really happened the way it did - it was just incredible from start to finish. Laura and Cillian live in Canada so they hired Weddings by Franc as their wedding planners. Peter and the team at weddings by Franc worked closely with Laura and Cillian to make their dream day come true. They pulled out all the stops and the attention to detail and organisation on the day was just out of this world. From designing the personalised invitations and creating a unique painting of the church for the mass booklets, weddings by Franc left no stone unturned from initial design right through to execution on the day!

There was so much to capture this day that I have decided to blog this wedding in two parts. So here is Part I! Still to come is the magical boat trip on the lake, a forest photo shoot, the first dance on an open air white dance floor and fireworks to end the party! For now, feast your eyes on all the beauty from the morning preparations and ceremony. This pair are just mad about each other and it was so lovely to witness their love on the day!

Laura and Cillian met 8 years ago in college in Galway, they had taken some classes together and spotted each other around but it wasn't until 2nd year that they got to know each other at a party and their story began... "We knew from the start we would be together forever, it sounds crazy but we just knew.

Fast forward 7 years - Laura and Cillian had been living together in Vancouver for 3 years when Cillian planned a trip to Whistler. Laura had no idea there was a proposal coming! Cillian had planned a big romantic weekend and proposed to Laura during a husky sleigh ride at the top of the mountain. They stopped off at the view point at the very top and Cillian got down on one knee. "I then realised why Cillian had suggested that I didn't need gloves even though it had been freezing! My favourite part of the proposal was hearing about all Cillian's planning and all the funny things that had happened between the ring being delayed at customs to phoning my Dad that morning while getting coffee- I was so impressed, I had no idea any of this was happening!"

Our wedding was magical! And full of love. I dreamed of what our wedding would look and feel like and it turned out to be more than I could have ever imagined- It was a modern botanical fairytale!
